Prairie Manor Speech therapy provides skilled treatment services addressing the patient’s functional communication and cognitive skills enabling the patient to effectively communicate daily, physical and medical needs. Speech therapy also addresses patient needs for improved swallowing function, diet modifications and patient/family education about safe swallowing strategies and guidelines
Speech therapy involves:
- Developing an effective plan of care to reach maximum level of function
- Utilizing appropriate evaluation tools and accurately complete evaluations in swallowing and cognition
- Setting up an appropriate least restrictive diet while maintaining adequate lung health, safety and nutrition
- Determining the need for patient education on safety and judgment for functioning in the home environment
